4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group KickOff

ArmiesArmy would like to announce the start of its 15mm 4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group 'KickOFF' campaign! For about 10 years now I've been an avid admirer of the “What if..." scenario that would have NATO Forces and the Warsaw Pack Troops lock horns in multiple engagements all over the world in a hypothetical World War 3. With the growing interest in 15mm Cold War gone hot and actually having a successful range cold war range already I am looking at some of the smaller nations to game with! .

Myself and Canuck Miniatures dreamt up this idea several months ago, however as in all things real life got in the way. I was concentrating on a British Cold war Kickstarter and it was unfair to start another until it was finished. In this time David has moved to different projects, however still needs to be recognised for his original input. CM

The goal is to raise funds to produce a 15mm range of Canadian Infantry and Armour suitable to field the 4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group for the Cold War period of 1980 to approximately 1985. Infantry will have the C1 Submachine Gun, FNC1 Rifle and FNC2 Light Machinegun as well as the Carl Gustav 84mm Recoilless Rifle, m72 Light Anti-Tank Weapon, C5 General Purpose Machine Gun and the 60mm Mortar.

The troops will have the ubiquitous M1 Helmet. For the Armour portion I’d like to produce The Leopard C1, M113, and Lynx recce vehicle. I am looking at additions to these vehicles in the form of dozer blades for the C1 and M113 and TOW launcher mount with crewman for the M113 to make an M150.

Here Come the Dutch!!!

"Since the start of this Kickoff campaign Ive been wondering who else used the SLR rifle and M1 helmet and to be fair its rather a lot. If you continue to look even deeper the webbing is often similar and more so when you take into account its 15mm. Did they have the same FN MAG gpmg, Carl Gustuv , 81mm mortars, Laws ...mostly. On occassion the ATGM differed as did the Anti Air Missile, however overall very little. Then you can look at the vehicles! M113, Leo's (new turert), Landrovers and more interestingly the brilliant little Lynx Recon Vehicle is used by the Canadians and the Dutch!

The Dutch also have the SLR, M1 helmets, British webbing, CG, FN MAG and add a few more vehicles (YP-408 snd YPR-765) I could also do the Dutch with very little changes to my KickOff, which is exactly the conclusion I have come to! The only exception is that I have added another 7 days on to the kickoff project time to allow myself time to properly market the change and help achieve the initial goal of £4000. We are currently half way with only a week or so to go. The extra time will give us the chance to reach the goal. I do not see any delay in delivery and I am more then happy for people to change to the Dutch Forces if they prefer them. The costs will be indentical, so if you have ordered an infantry platoon for the canadians, youll get the option to chose Dutch or Canadian.

I hope all this is ok with all my current supporters. I think its likely a win win..... Please spread the word and help us hit the funding level ! "

Thanks Keith

How to support / pledge?

Its as simple as creating an armiesarmy account if you do not have one, then selecting one or more of the awards on the right hand side! You can select as many as you like and all will be added into your shopping cart. You may only add one reward at a time. If you want to add more then use the return to store or continue shopping. The continue shopping option will send you back to your last page. Before you check out you can add more rewards and more addons. Follow the link http://armiesarmy.com/product-category/canadian-kickoff/ and add the rewards into your basket.

You may also add some extra addons to build up that ideal force to match your favourite rules or match that Orbat you wanted. Once you have added all the items to your basket, you can check out.

I will continue to add items as and when I am asked for them. You can also select any other of my cold war products to add to your pledge. These items will not be dispatched until the KickOFF has come to a close unless arranged with myself. If you have issues please contact me via email, comments or contact forms.

Now I have added the dutch you can choose which force you would like for your rewards. All rewards can be supplied as the Dutch or Canadians.

Preparation and Shipping

The models are very nearly complete, including the lynx, Leo and M113. Detailing and making them print ready is the final part of the process and then they are off to the mould makers The infantry has one test dollie completed as pictured. The rest of the figures have weapons, legs and heads and need positioing and assembly. These then need to be master moulded and created into production moulds. On completion full production will begin. All moulds are created by a enstablished mould maker and cast by myself. With previous experiances I would suggest this will not be ready for shipping until April. I do hope to be much ealier for many of my supporters. I now have a streamlined process and have added many lessons learned from previous kickstarters. Vehicles have been modified to speed up the resin casting, whilst retaining the realism and detail expected from my resin kits and figures. If I have a massive success then I suspect this may effect the timings, however everything is in place to help cope with any demand with extra hands at the ready if needed. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or suggestions. I aim to add stretch goals depending on feedback! Ill try my best to do what you want to see!

Risks and challenges

Some sculpting, molding, 3d printing and casting is done out of house by established miniature manufacturing company, so I am reliant on their time and skills. I have pre booked time with these talented people, all whom have backed my project in so many ways. As with life, these people may experience delays and if so, so do I. I will do my utmost to keep to the schedules I have set, however I can not discount delays entirely. I do promise to do my very best! Thank You Keith ArmiesArmy

FAQ

Shipping will commence April if not sooner.

All KickOff items are at a reduced price of around 10%
All figures are white metal
All vehicles are resin and white metal

Addons can be found  - http://armiesarmy.com/product-category/canadian-kickoff/

Updates

Shipping is almost upon us!!!

Just a heads up that in the next 10 days I will begin the shipping process. I have had a variety of delays with the worst being an injured sculptor whom was out for a month and has only just finished sculpting (promised this week) , 3d sculptor whom had real life issues (he got a full time job) . The vehicle castings are being finished, Canadian decals ready and Ive began casting all of the metal parts needed.

If I have no more mishaps then the shipping of the canadians will begin in the next 10 days, Dutch another week as the YP 408 is still being printed and cast. If you dont have this..it wont effect you!

The items will ship as I have them and Ill be including lots of extra stowage as thanks for your support!

      Hi

sorry this is not yet available. Its a placeholder and test for when it is. Im hoping to start in the first week of January!
      Ill keep the site updated!

    1. Oops, just saw the platoon as a pledge option, though I would still take a single tank option as I figure out what I’d pledge. I’m probably just looking at infantry platoon-scale actions. Thanks.

  1. Can I suggest you get the photos of the 3D models up as quickly as possible – people want to see stuff before they buy it!

  2. Just coming back to this to sort out my order, and wanted to check about the Canadian Mech Infantry Platoon – it seems to be missing its section M113s (only the HQ section seems to have one). I take it should have M113s (as the mech platoons in the mech company do).

  3. Darn it, am I sorry that I missed this one ! I had the privilege of being a “flyover” reinforcement to 3 RCR (one of the infantry bns of 4 CMBG then, from 1984-88 it was replaced by 2 VP/PPCLI) during FALLEX 1982, as a young Cdn Army reservist.
Guess I’ll just have to buy my goodies at full price, but it would have been nice to have supported this project from the beginning.

  4. Hello. Is this website still monitored (by admins)? I sent an email (from contact info area) and haven’t received a reply yet. I was asking for permission to use the Lynx, Leopard tank and M113 models in some woodcarving (using CNC machine) projects that I have in mind. If I could speak with the admin and/or modeler(s), that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Allan

      Hi Allan

sorry I did not see the email, however it can get caught up with lots of other items and I could of missed it sorry.

Woodcarving? Are you doing this for commercial reasons or fun?
